DENVER – A major warm up is heading our way on Wednesday. We did jump quite a few degrees from Monday, when we only hit the 50s. Tuesday brought the 70s with plenty of sunshine. We’ll be even warmer on Wednesday by hitting 80 degrees! This would tie a daily record high if we reach it.
Winds weren’t too bad on Tuesday, but they’ll really crank up on Wednesday. All of the I-25 corridor, the foothills, eastern plains, and southwestern corner of Colorado will be under a Red Flag Warning starting at 11:00 am on Wednesday. Almost all of these same areas will see this again on Thursday. Winds could reach 50 mph and humidity levels will drop below 12%.
A strong cold front will enter northwestern Colorado late Thursday causing snow to spread over the mountains Thursday night into Friday. The mountains may see another 3 to 6 or more inches of snow.
The front will reach the metro area Thursday night causing a 30 degree drop in temperatures along with a chance for light snow on Friday.
The weekend will be mostly sunny and dry. It will start cool with 50s on Saturday and then 60s for Sunday.
