Ducky Shine 6 Keyboard Review

Ducky Channel International Co., or Ducky, as more popularly known by, made a strong debut in the TechPowerUp review database with their One 2 Skyline keyboard that was all about providing a custom keycap set on a well-built keyboard right out of the box.

As one of three option sets, Ducky was appealing to end users who immediately replace the stock keycaps, and it seemingly is working out well for them. But when someone brings up Ducky, the product that is most often associated with them is the Shine. In its sixth series iteration now, the Ducky Shine keyboards have been their flagship (aside from the limited edition Chinese Zodiac Year of the.. series) keyboards that helped make the brand popular in an age where the so-called gaming keyboards were taking over.

Ducky realized that RGB backlighting was a must to keep up, and the Shine 5 introduced a limited form of it based on on-board controls. Today, we take a look at what the latest entry brings to the table, and thanks again to Ducky for providing a review sample.

The Shine 6 was released in late 2016, so it has been longer in the tooth compared to the One 2 Skyline we saw before. But there have been some small updates to the SKU since launch, so the Shine 6 you buy today is not the same as the one initially launched. Even if the keyboard had not been updated at all, the feature set in the Ducky Shine 6 is no different than from the vast majority of $150+ keyboards on the market today, with 16.8 M RGB backlighting and multiple options of Cherry MX mechanical switches in a full-size 108-key US ANSI layout (region dependent) keyboard with a black color scheme.
