First Major Update Since the Shelley Era Released by the Cardano Development Team

Daedalus 2.1.0 Goes Live for the First Time Since Shelley Went Live. Taking to Twitter yesterday, IOHK posted that Daedalus 2.1.0 is the new native wallet for ADA holders and it is powered by two main features; spendable rewards and ITN redeemable rewards.

The post was as follows;

“OUT NOW: Daedalus 2.1.0 is the first major update to the #Daedalus wallet and introduces two new features: ITN rewards redemption and spendable rewards.”

Those who create staking pools on the network will be able to redeem the rewards they earned during sandbox staking in the Shelley Incentivized Testnet epoch. All Cardano holders will be able to participate as long as they remember their wallet recovery phrase and they will be able to make transactions through the wallet. The funds need to be enough to cover the expense and transaction fees.

The official version of the wallet is already available for download on IOHK’s website. Charles Hoskinson said that all Cardano holders are free to update their versions of the wallet. In his words;

“Make sure to upgrade. ITN rewards can now be redeemed”

In other news, there has been a lot of debate following the Shelley update. Everyone in the Cardano community has said that Shelley makes the blockchain 100% more decentralized. Hoskinson said that the network is now unmatched following the update. However, there are those who believe that Shelley is overrated. Adam Back, the CTO of Blockstream said that Cardano Shelley is only offering the delusion of decentralization and is copying the EOS.IO consensus design. Hoskinson dismissed the accusations stating all the advantages of Shelley and what makes it better than other networks in the industry.

Back’s hatred of Cardano is not a surprise since he has always been a fan of Bitcoin. He said that Cardano and Ethereum are similar to the most infamous scams in the cryptocurrency industry including OneCoin, BitConect, and other popular Ponzi schemes that have caused trouble in the industry.
