Bitcoin Price Continues to Eye $11K as Most Altcoins See Minor Gains

Bitcoin continues to show impressive price movement after trading close to $10,300 for the better part of the day. At publishing time, the No. 1 cryptocurrency is trading at $10,718 – up 2.9% on the day, according to data from Coin360.

Tuesday, Sept. 3 – Bitcoin continues to eye $11,000, with most altcoins registering minor gains on the day.

Bullish sentiments towards BTC seem to have won out once again as Bitcoin dominance hit 70.5%. Cointelegraph reported at the beginning of August that crypto perma-bull and former Wall Street trader Max Keiser had claimed Bitcoin dominance is heading towards 80% and that altcoins are dying – and will “never come back.”

The No. 1 altcoin, Ether (ETH), is showing a minor uptick of 1% and currently trading at $181 per coin.

Ripple’s XRP token continues to trade steadily and is showing minor gains of 0.1%. At publishing time, the world’s third-most popular coin is trading at $0.263.

Cointelegraph reported on Sept. 3 that, according to Whale Alert, a live tracker for cryptocurrency transactions, Ripple had moved 500 million of its native XRP tokens (worth about $130.1 million at publishing time) from its escrow wallet.

Major losers and gainers among top 20 altcoins

Among the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, Huobi Token (HT) is showing the biggest gains on the day – up more than 4% to trade at $4.11 at publishing time. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is the second-best performer in the top 20 altcoins, showing gains of just under 4% to trade at $304 per coin.

The worst-performing top 20 altcoin is Tezos (XTZ) with a loss of 4% on the day. One Tezos is now being traded at $1 per coin.

Overall cryptocurrency market capitalization currently sits at $271 billion, with BTC’s share accounting for 70.5% of the total.

Sunday, Jan. 19 – most of the top 20 cryptocurrencies are reporting severe losses on the day by press time as well as Bitcoin which now hovers just under the $8,600 mark falling from today’s high of nearly $9,200, making it a 7.32% loss.

Bitcoin price is currently down by 3.08% on the day, trading at around $8,636 at press time, according to Coin360. Looking at its weekly chart, the coin is still up by about 6.42%. Bitcoin’s price movement has seen the price decrease by $514 in around 5 minutes.

Ether (ETH) is holding onto its position as the largest altcoin by market cap, which currently stands at $18 billion. The second-largest altcoin, Ripple’s XRP, has a market cap of $10 billion at press time.

Coin360 data shows that ETH has seen its value decrease by about 3.41% over the last 24 hours and 7.3% since the highs of today. At press time, ETH is trading around $164. On the week, the coin has also gained about 14.68% of its value.

XRP is down by about 3.43% over the last 24 hours and down 8.36% from today’s hight. The coin is currently trading at around $0.23. On the week, the coin is up about 7.98%.

Among the top 20 cryptocurrencies, the ones reporting two-digit losses for 24 hours are DASH, which is down by 15.6%, Ethereum Classic (ETC), which lost 12.85% of its value, Bitcoin SV (BSV), which lost 10.8%, and lastly Bitcoin Cash (BCH) which lost 11.24%.

At press time, the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies is $235.5 billion, about 8.5% higher than the value it reported a week ago. Since today’s high, the total market cap is down by 5.91%.
